I’m Kameryn Myers, and I have the incredible honor of serving as a Youth Pastor here at True Light Christian Church alongside Daniel and Marissa Lindstrom as well as our phenomenal team of leaders.
I am so thankful to have grown up in a loving household and raised by Spirit-filled parents who prioritized my walk with Christ above all else. I also have a grandmother who has blessed me enormously through her legacy of prayer over me and my family. From an early age I knew I was called to a life of faith and ministry. Although challenging at times, there has been nothing more rewarding than waking up every morning with the heart to serve Jesus and build His kingdom.
I graduated from SHS in 2017, ready to make a giant impact on the world as all starry-eyed graduates do. Unfortunately, I chose to pursue a life that went against God’s best for me and it caused a lot of pain and destruction. A year later, after the Lord drew me back to himself and I realized I had nothing left to offer, I had the opportunity to travel with Youth With A Mission for 6 months. During my Discipleship Training School, the Lord taught me more about Himself than I had ever understood beyond my parents’ relationship with Him. My relationship with Jesus became my own. I finally understood His love for me was so great and immeasurable, there was nothing I needed to DO to earn it. Once you understand that kind of love it’s all you can do to keep from telling everyone about it. YWAM was a launchpad for the way I will choose to live the rest of my life, on mission and Kingdom-minded.
While I was in Hawaii, they asked me to stay on staff there. I desperately wanted to and so I took it to the Lord. God led me out into the quiet of the night and He told me, “Kameryn, you’re going back home. It’s going to be dark and it’s going to be lonely at times, but that is where I am calling you.” I flew home the following week.
Once I was home, I kept asking God where he was going to send me next. This was the word he gave me “Seek first my kingdom…” I said, “well of course! That’s what I’m trying to do!” He said, “If you won’t even be on mission with the people around you in your home town, how can I trust you to go out into all the nations.”That is when I began considering myself called to my hometown of Silverton as a missionary.
I have worked with Young Life since 2019. This is where my passion for youth ministry began to blossom. I started with a sweet little crew of only a few sixth grade girls. They had my whole heart from the moment I met them. At the end of my first year with them I was offered another opportunity to move back to Hawaii… I prayed hard. That’s a tough choice! Ultimately, I have no doubt in my mind there is no better way I could spend my life than to lay down my life one day at a time for the youth of Silverton. Way better than lying on a beach in my opinion!
There have been highs and lows in ministry. There always will be. My prayer for our youth is that the Lord will do far more than we can think or imagine in their lives. That He alone will captivate their hearts in the way He captivated mine and that they will be transformed from the inside out. I pray that they will learn to have an undistracted devotion to him. My desire is for revival to break out in our little town and that it would start with the youth of Silverton.
